community I have had the opportunity to interview Rev. Al Sharpton many times and he has always had something meaningful that clear clearly states his position on any subject we discussed. Althought Rev. Sharpton has hosted a syndicated radio show for several years, and a talk show/news magazine type show on TV One, some wondered if he could handle a TV show on MSNBC.
Below is Rev. Sharpton's response to SNL
Rev. Sharpton has been on longer than some expected. Here's what the The Root reported:
"Back in August, as the Rev. Al Sharpton began his hosting duties on MSNBC'sPoliticsNation, the first gig there for an African American who wasn't a journalist, a reader at the Huffington Post asked what many in the media (and elsewhere) probably asked themselves: "What is the over-under on this guy's hosting job lasting a full month?""
We can only hope that Rev. Sharpton will be able to be himself and be not have to bend his views or opinions because of "corporate" reasons. Will he be able to have on any guests he chooses? Will he be able to choose any topic? I am reminded of the words of Ice T in one of his raps about yes, we have "freedom of speech, just watch what you say." Only time will tell how this one plays out. Meanwhile, check out more of The Roots article. Read more here
