Quarles & Brady's Nettles Appointed to R&B singer Usher's New Look Foundation

CHICAGO, ILL  (February 2, 2012)  — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP announced that Cory Nettles, of counsel in the Firm's Milwaukee office, has been appointed to serve on the board of  Usher’s New Look Foundation.  Mr. Nettles was also elected treasurer, appointed to the Executive Committee, and will chair the Finance and Audit Committee.

R&B singer Usher's foundation trains and certifies youth in four leadership areas, including talent, education, career and service. As a board member, Mr. Nettles will provide his expertise to help the Foundation’s development committee reach strategic fund development goals.   

Mr. Nettles practices in the areas of corporate services and government relations. His recent work with Quarles & Brady has focused on private equity and venture capital investing, tax incremental financing, brownfields and environmental contamination and remediation, utilities, transportation, affordable housing, and minority and women owned business and supplier development and diversity matters. He is also the founder and managing director of Milwaukee-based Generation Growth Capital, Inc., a private equity fund that provides growth capital to lower middle market companies.

He received his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School and his bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, from Lawrence University.

The Inaugural Award categories include:

* Celebrity Giver of the Year
* Best Non-Profit Organization (5 Regions: Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, and West)

* Best Charity Event of the Year

The deadline for nominations is November 30th, 2011.

 

The community is encouraged to nominate individuals and organizations worthy of one (or more) of the distinguished BCG Awards. Official nominees will be announced December 15th, 2011 with voting to take place throughout the month of January, 2012. All votes will be based on BCG Reader Voting Polls. Winners of the 2012 BCG Awards will receive an official BCG crystal award trophy, website badge, bragging rights for one year and other sponsored products. The nonprofit organization with the most votes out of each of the five regions will also win a $1,000 grant for their cause, courtesy of BCG.
