Move over Fantastic Four, now begins the reign of The Grand Tytans

Move over Fantastic Four, now begins the reign of The Grand Tytans, the newest international players to join the elite league of American superheroes. But, can they vanquish all the ills that bewitch our planet?

These top dogs, in this illustrated action adventure novel, The Grand Tytans: Uprising, by new author Jay Ocean, are a team of three ageless heavy-hitters; two young men and a gorgeous girl who happens to be the most brilliant if not dangerous of the trio.

Each Tytan has exotic powers that go beyond the mere control of the base elements, and in turn complement powers of the other Tytans, uniting them into an invincible troika.

The Tytans fight battles not with weapons, but their genius out-maneuvering opponents with new inventive ways to overcome extreme adversity. Unlike superheroes of yesterday, the Tytans are funny and are a good party; a lot like you and I.

When it comes to high stakes battle, they are a fearless, cool-under-pressure bunch out to battle some serious villains -irate mutants created by mankind's polluting of the sea. Their toys are every man's dream; a super yacht that morphs, on command, into a state of the art submarine, crazy fast gravity-defying underwater bikes, and cool costumes that would make Spiderman envious.

How Unique Are The Tytans?
For starters they are hyper cool and present a fresh take on superhero power play. Secondly, they speak to the important issues of today calling out and shaming belligerent polluters, indifference to drought, and dysfunction of democracy. The third applies strictly to arm-chair global travelers as the raging action takes you on a thrill ride across the continents to unique places such as the Canadian Arctic, Juan de Fuca USA, Antarctica, KwaZulu-Natal, and other exotic lands. Fourth, the Tytans' defense strategies are fascinating and brilliant as are their battle tactics.

The villains are mutant crustaceans, known as Krustos, a super gang of physically agile, war-loving, human-loathing, bad grammar trash talking thugs, out to avenge their hated mutation at the hands of humanity. Here's the kicker: The silver lining to their mutation is that they benefit from a very large and highly developed brain resulting in superior intelligence enabling them to develop ultra technology which is beyond advanced.

This advantage has spawned a secretive highly sophisticated parallel civilization that thrives on a stealth home island that roams the seven seas unseen by human eyes. As a testament to their genius these warlords' have weaponry that is a product of mind-numbing sub-atomic technology; a quantum leap from our atomic or nuclear capabilities. But, woe betide those thinking that the Krustos should be grateful for the incredible side benefits of their mutation. The mutants swear they would rather have remained bottom-feeders free from the effects of humanity and the polluting of their abode, the sea.

"Superheroes That Remind You of No Other..." -- THE DAILY TIMES

If these superheroes represent a metaphor for each of us, then, this novel is a cautionary tale about the horror of what our polluting of the Earth's ecosystem is doing to animal and plant life, our health, as well as the global climate. This story affirms the millions of us unknown to each other, and to the world, who never get to make history, but unquestionably form part of it one good deed at a time. Although Jay Ocean does not overtly say so it is clear that this is the theme on which The Grand Tytans are based. Given youth and adult indifference to the crucial issues of the day, perhaps the values of these new superheroes are what we all need for reflection and inspiration.

Among the high profile fans of the Tytans is screen sensation Robert Pattinson of the Twilight saga, who Tweeted, "The Grand Tytans are] ...fierce, awesome fun! Flows like an action movie." The Daily Times acclaims, 'Hugely entertaining. They (Tytans] are superheroes that remind you of no other... 'On the literary blogs the Tytans have earned praise for originality. On Bookworm, a popular blog , Frank Moyo raves, 'Too cool to put down. The soaring prose rocks...' Lindsay Ortega writes, 'I'm down with the kick-ass cold-blooded villains. Go Krustos!'

The young author draws from a vivid imagination and uses action, uplifting narrative, as well as snappy dialogue, as a means of characterization. The result is a thriller or a literary equivalent of the slow motion action scenes in the Transformer movies -exciting for some, but not to everybody's taste. Much as this book is a tribute to the human spirit, maybe The Grand Tytans are poised to become a significant part of our cultural landscape of superheroes. Jay Ocean writes from the enchantingly rugged terrain of northern British Columbia.
