Both their campaigns were endorsed by Kanye West!

In what may be one of the most unexpected political announcements in Chicago political history, Grammy award winning artist Che “Rhymefest” Smith announced his campaign to run for Alderman of the 20^thWard Oct. 21.

“For too long our communities have been dictated to without them having any say so. This election will represent a clear contrast between fresh ideas and the politics of the past.”

I'll say it again. Che Rhymefest Smith is running for alderman in the 20th Ward. This is monumental!

This may be bigger than the mayor's race in Chicago. I know, I know, you think I'm crazy but we are talking about a Grammy award winning artist who made a "hip hop gospel" piece that was played in the clubs, even the strip clubs...and he never left his community.

He's been all over the world, but never left Woodlawn the community he loves. 

One supporter said it like this: 

“Che lives, breathes for the continued success of the residents. He will work closely with our community leaders and those in position to serve and protect and ensure that our voices are not only heard, but also recognized,” Athena Mitchell, a 20^th Ward resident and block club president.
