JET: Jordan Davis (1995-2012)

--Slain Florida Teen Covers January 14th Issue

--Parents Rally Against ‘Stand Your Ground’

Chicago: (December 31, 2012) – JET® Magazine, the Nation’s No. 1 African American news magazine, kicks off 2013 standing up for slain Florida teen Jordan Davis— featured on its Jan. 14 issue cover. In JET’s exclusive magazine interview, Davis’ parents, Ron Davis and Lucia McBath, sit down with New York Times Bestselling Author, journalist Denene Millner to talk about Davis’ “miracle” birth, how he was developing into a productive young man, and how his life was snatched away by an armed man who is expected to use the “Stand Your Ground” defense at trial.

Davis and McBath tell JET they are seeking justice for their son and want to see the laws changed; they are petitioning the Obama administration to declare Stand Your Ground illegal under federal law.

Ron Davis Quote:“I will be out there stomping all over the nation, fighting for my son…we need to change these laws to back ‘when you shoot somebody, you’re going to be held accountable.’”

The Davis cover story, which also spotlights staggering Stand Your Ground statistics, hits newsstands Monday, Dec. 31.

In this issue…JET also speaks with Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins of the dynamic trio TLC. From living with sickle cell anemia to experiencing a major health scare, Watkins talks to JET about how she is rebounding in life, raising her 12-year-old daughter, and is ready to get back to business with a new reality television show and solo material in the works.

And, drum roll please…JET’s first national Beauty of the Week competition has come to a close, the online votes have been tallied and the results are in. In this issue, thirdplace winner,Jenisa Young, is featured. Young was scouted during a casting call in Atlanta hosted by JET and Cynthia Bailey, of the Bailey Agency and Real Housewives of Atlanta.

JET consistently delivers to Black America what’s happening in its… News, Entertainment, Life, Love, Beauty, Look and Game sections, AND never disappoints with The Week’s Best Photo and JET Beauty!

If it’s hot, if it’s happening, it’s in JET!
