Local Media Personality Shows Non-fiction authors how to promote and market their books the "rich" author's way

Monique Caradine says workshop will give authors the publicity and marketing skills they need to succeed.

November 1, 2011 (Chicago, Illinois) – Self-published authors are usually great at writing but when it comes to marketing and promoting their books, they are often at a loss.  That’s why on Saturday, November 12th, Chicago-based TV & Radio personality Monique Caradine is hosting the Rich Author’s Workshop where she’ll be revealing the secrets to marketing, promoting and turning your book into a multiple-income stream empire.

The workshop will be held at the newly-renovated Tinley Park Convention Center in Tinley Park Illinois beginning at 10:00 a.m.

As the host of shows on WVON 1690 AM and FOX-affiliate My50 Chicago, Caradine has interviewed hundreds of authors from Maya Angelou to Terri McMillan.  She knows the challenges that non-celebrity authors face.

“Most authors hurt themselves by using publicity tactics that just don’t work,” Caradine remarked.  “They probably have a great story, but the media won’t notice if their approach is wrong.”

“Additionally, without name recognition or a strong brand, too many authors wind up with a surplus of their own books, schlepping them around to book signings hoping that people show up,” Caradine says.

She adds that the most successful authors know how to do 3 key things: 1.) engage the media, 2.) build a “tribe” and 3.) leverage the book to create multiple revenue streams.

Caradine believes that without an understanding of these concepts, “self-published authors will languish in obscurity.”

During the workshop, which is targeted toward non-fiction writers, attendees will not only learn media, marketing and platform-building strategies for book-selling success, they will also hear from experts in the publishing industry.  Tynisha Thompson, a former publishing executive from New York will talk about how to become a best-seller in the exploding e-book market and best-selling author Naleighna Kai will host a session on getting your book “out of your head” and on to the page.
