Duty Shirking Black Man Blames Job Loss On Racism

Despite admittedly being late nearly everyday for six months, staying on breaks too long, and doing, basically, "a half ass job," David "Junebug" Carpenter maintains that he was fired from his job of one year due to institutionalized racism.

Apparently, the company had several rules dubbed, "racist and strict," by Mr. Carpenter. Among the rules, workers had to be on time daily and do their job for eight hours, excluding breaks.

“If I was a white man, I could have gotten more chances,” said Mr. Carpenter in an exclusive interview about his short tenure at Sensationalize This! newspaper chain. “It’s racism. I have a white co-worker who was late a lot too, but he did not get fired.”

“Mr. Carpenter was habitually late and unproductive,” said Mr. Johnny Wilson, district manager. “I’m not sure how he passed through human resources, because he was even late for his interview. He said something about his grandmother dying. Well, five more died before he got fired,” added Mr. Wilson.

“That man doesn’t know me. He don’t know how many grandmothers I got. Black folks have lots of family. Anyway, each time I was late, I had a perfectly good reason,” said Mr. Carpenter. “Once, the train was delayed; some guy got sick and they had to wait for
an ambulance. Then there was the time I got mugged on the way to work. I live in a rough neighborhood. On another occasion, I will admit I was late because I got high.

“But aside from that, man, it’s like arghhh, ya know what I’m saying? I get to work and my managers like, ‘why are you late young man?’ All in my face, fronting me out while everybody is looking. I felt he was disrespecting me. Next thing I know, he fired me; straight racism.”

Even the photo taken for this article of Mr. Carpenter was mediocre.
