I had the pleasure of meeting this incredible woman a few years ago. She has even blessed Bean Soup Times by volunteering at our booth at the African Festival one year.

Family, meet Shanara, CEO- Chief Entertainment Officer of MouthPeace Entertainment - Actress, Writer, Vocalist, Hostess, Speaker currently residing in the Chicagoland area. Visit her at Bean Soup Society.

MouthPeace Entertainment is the premier company for all things professional of the gift of the Word. The gifts and resume of Shanara, the C.E.O. (Chief Entertainment Officer) are numerous and varied. Informally, Shanara performed in church choirs, dance groups and writing contests up to graduating high school.  She earned a Bachelor’s in Finance from DePaul University. 

While she has a strong corporate background in banking (which includes living Europe), she is most proud of the fact that she taught hip hop while living in Ireland.  Upon returning the U.S. she grabbed attention by throwing down at such venues as the Spoken Word Café and Poetry on the Patio, as a vocalist, emcee and poet.  By 2005, she was bitten with the acting bug in her first lead role as Simone in The Retreat. 

Since then she has starred in such plays as A Raisin in the Sun, Daughters of the Mock, To Be Young Gifted and Black, Chicago Black Renaissance and the indie film hit, Partyline, to name a few.   She has trained at Act One Studios, The Green Room and The Sherwood Conservatory of Music.  She is currently a performer and director of public relations for The Hansberry-Baldwin Ensemble, and serves as chair of the Adult Drama Ministry of Trinity United Church Christ.  She is a recurring writer and performer for Miraculous Entertainment, as well as AquaMoon.
