Server almost goes gladiator on diner
Customer had not idea whom he was messing with
David Waters, a Red Lobster server, took a deep breath and sighed heavily when an unnamed man eating out with his girlfriend was unnecessarily rude to both him and the bus boy. “I am fed up with waiting on clowns! I ought to go out there and bust (sic) his head with a water pitcher,” Waters told several co-workers during his regular evening shift.
Waters patience came to an end after the diner--wearing a platinum chain that hung to his belly, and a colorful matching sweater and hat ensemble--moved his table twice, ordered a well done steak, then complained when it was not ready in five minutes.
“Then, this chump had the nerve to try and convince me to add another shot or two of tequila in him and his woman’s margaritas,” added Waters. “He don’t even realize the way she was eyeing me every time I brought her more shrimp. I could take his woman like Michael Jackson did in that video of his with Chris Tucker in it.”
And to top off Waters’ anger, the couple spent over $300 dollars, had him running back and for more of the all you can eat shrimp dinner, napkins and water. By the end of the meal, the man praised lavish praise on Waters, but failed to leave a tip. “I hate to say it, but the more money you see them wearing; chains, bracelets, gold teeth, and expensive clothes, the more likely it is that I will not receive a tip,” said Waters.
Too often, restaurant servers are faced with basically ignorant customer who really have no business being out in public. Waters frustration represents a growing number of servers who are becoming more intolerant of cantankerous, rude and clueless people eating out. “It is sad, but there are millions of people who eat out that have never had basic home training,” said a representative from SERVE, the Chicago-based waiters union.
