TURF FEINZ Video: Witness the Incredible Street Dance That Promotes Change

After several people on Facebook shared this video with me, I decided to take a look and I was completely blown away. The style, creativity and athleticism from these Oakland-based dancers displayed in this video is amazing.

At the time of this post nearly 20,000 people have shared it on Facebook and it has gotten 1.2 million plus views on Youtube. This is so exciting to me because I encourage organizations both for profit and non profit to not just use mainstream media to get the message out, but be the media to share their message and this group is doing it...and it's for a cause.

I did a little research and found the official Fan page of the dancers. The TURF FEINZ dance crew known for turf dancing. They are working with a film production company called YAK that "began as a production team of young photographers and filmmakers dedicated to youth-led multimedia production which provides a voice for resistance and an alternative to played-out mainstream media.

At its core, YAK is a visual wrecking crew built to use every form of expressive multimedia to share the voice of youth in urban America and promote change on every level."

YAK is now evolving to take the lead in the street-based documentation of the global dance movement. We hope to see many more dance crews coming up all around the world and teaming up with new media companies to produce high quality dance videos. We encourage people to start documenting the various dance styles from their neighborhoods, cities and countries."

 Watch and be amazed!
