Rapper turned actor accused of using proper grammar

London—A coalition of Hip Hop activists demanded a ban on recordings by popular rap star L.L. Cool J after the group learned he used proper grammar in recent singles. "L.L. distinctly said 'you are' as opposed to 'you is," in one of his music videos," said Nigel Wade, founder and spokesperson of Hip Hop Iz Not.
Be Dead, during at April 2 press conference held in London. "I don't be knowing what be getting into him. True hip hop headz know you don't be using correct grammar if you're trying to represent." Wade told Bean Soup Times that more than 200 HHINBD supporters would rally outside the London headquarters of Def Jam Records, the rapper's label, in a staged protest. There, he said, consumers will burn "all things L.L. " and send the message that "if you gonna be true to the game, you best not trip."
Efforts to reach L.L, also known as James Todd Smith, were unsuccessful at Bean Soup press deadline. Several other rappers wondered if they would be targeted next. “I never had even thought about whether or not I be using correct grammar,”said B. Roken English, who’s rap moniker is Brok’n English. He hopes his grammar is not perfect so he can set an example for the youngsters, he said. “This be the only country where a C student can become president and a black man wit’ bad english can be paid because of it.”
